Beaver Street Fisheries becomes first ACC certified repacking plant for shrimp, tilapia, channel cat

SEAFOOD.COM NEWS by John Sackton - March 31, 2008 - As part of its commitment to traceability in the supply chain for ACC certified products, the Aquaculture Certification Council has begun an inspection and certification process for re-packing plants, which are those plants who receive ACC certified aquaculture products from certified producers and processors, and who then repack the products for final sale.

Beaver St. Fisheries, in Jacksonville, FL, who is a major tilapia and shrimp supplier to Wal-Mart, among other companies, has received the first certification for a repacking plant issued by the ACC.

The certificate became official within the past few days.

The ACC now has certified over 70 processing plants for shrimp, tilapia, and channel catfish, and over 40 separate shrimp farms.
